Field Grey developed corporate uniforms for security and reception team at City Hall, London. This landmark building was designed by Norman Foster and opened in 2002.
1. Uniform / We wanted the uniform design to reflect this new assembly for London. Therefore we teamed up with fair trade companies Peopletree and Gossypum for t-shirts. We sourced breathable performance fabrics with water-soluble dyes for the body warmers and security jackets, which were designed to be unisex with well proportioned fluorescent colour.
2. Accessories / As many of the staff were 'transient' during the day with no fixed desk space Field Grey ensured that the garments had adequate storage.
A silk scarf was designed with a bespoke print of the landmark building. The dividing cross was suggestive of the cross of St George.
3. Environment / The building serves various purposes welcoming tourists, foreign dignitaries, members of staff and the general public. This coupled with the modern architecture and the importance of security, means that the corporate clothing would need to be designed to communicate on many levels.
