And yet today, as the 2025 semi-finals begin, the fashion narrative often leads from abroad.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

International aces on Centre Court<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Since 2006, Ralph\u202fLauren<\/a>\u2019s preppy American style \u2013 navy blazers, repp ties and crisp pleats \u2013 has dressed umpires and ball kids, cementing an iconic on-court look. This partnership brought polished, globally recognisable heritage sportswear to Wimbledon, and it works brilliantly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That global takeover deepened this year when Italian player Jannik Sinner<\/a> strode on-court with a monogrammed Gucci duffel, a move The Business of Fashion<\/a> called a \u201cWimbledon fashion revolution.\u201d Luxury fashion has officially stepped onto Centre Court.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On-court style this year has skewed heavily American. According to Luxury London<\/a>, standout looks include Coco Gauff in butterfly\u2011embroidered New\u202fBalance, Taylor Fritz sporting Hugo\u202fBoss, Naomi Osaka in a Nike dress and Stefanos Tsitsipas wearing Adidas\u2019 \u2019London Originals\u2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Even Lorenzo Musetti\u2019s Bottega Veneta bomber added a global luxury twist. Wimbledon 2025 has become a stage for international \u2013 and particularly American \u2013 sportswear branding.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And change isn\u2019t just coming from the sidelines. This year saw the removal of line judges on Centre Court, replaced by automated line-calling technology for the first time in Wimbledon\u2019s history. But in a fourth-round match, the system failed<\/a> to register three calls due to a technical error \u2013 prompting a backlash from player Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova and renewed debate about tradition, technology and the role of human judgement. It\u2019s a timely reminder that even at Wimbledon, evolution comes with growing pains.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A rich fashion legacy <\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Wimbledon\u2019s fashion story has long mirrored cultural change. And while some of its most iconic style moments came from abroad, British designers have played a defining role. And more recently, in 2017, Stella McCartney<\/a> put British design back in the spotlight with a sustainable Wimbledon collection for Adidas, worn by stars including Garbi\u00f1e Muguruza.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But since then? Wimbledon has been fairly quiet on the British fashion front.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The rise of Tenniscore <\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Spectator style \u2013 from tenniscore schoolgirl pleats to pastel polos \u2013 dominates summer fashion. David Beckham\u2019s finely cut linen, Margot Robbie\u2019s retro polka dots and lines like Nike\u2019s \u2019London\u2019<\/a> and Adidas\u2019s \u2019London Originals\u2019<\/a> all borrow from Wimbledon\u2019s visual language. British labels are playing along: East London-based label Aligne<\/a> rolled out tailored whites and linen separates, while high street favourites Boden offered racket-print dresses and garden-party maxis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Or maybe a bold solo project could redefine what the tournament looks like, just as Tinling once did.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Final serve<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Wimbledon has never just been about tennis. It\u2019s a tradition, a stage and a mirror to broader cultural shifts. From Tinling\u2019s flamboyance to McCartney\u2019s minimalism, British designers have helped shape tennis style. But it’s been a while since a homegrown voice led the conversation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
