Its iconic structure is famous worldwide and thousands of visitors flock to it every year to marvel at its physics, futuristic mechanical escalators and world class rotating exhibitions programme. <\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.field-grey.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/2.jpg\" alt=\"-2\" width=\"680\" height=\"453\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-4173\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.field-grey.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/2.jpg 700w, https:\/\/www.field-grey.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/2-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.field-grey.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/2-1024x683.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 680px) 100vw, 680px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Expo 58 was the first major World&#8217;s Fair after the Second World War and the Atomium was a beacon of a brighter future and a shift towards postmodern architecture. Architects Andr\u00e9 and Jean Polak (with help of master Belgian engineer Andr\u00e9 Waterkeyn) were commissioned to produce a dynamic and impactful structure to form the centre of the international showcase &#8211; it is still surrounded by a number of modernist masterpieces. <\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.field-grey.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/4.jpg\" alt=\"-4\" width=\"680\" height=\"453\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-4174\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.field-grey.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/4.jpg 700w, https:\/\/www.field-grey.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/4-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.field-grey.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/4-1024x683.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 680px) 100vw, 680px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.field-grey.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/9.jpg\" alt=\"-9\" width=\"680\" height=\"453\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-4177\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.field-grey.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/9.jpg 700w, https:\/\/www.field-grey.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/9-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.field-grey.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/9-1024x683.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 680px) 100vw, 680px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The interconnecting spheres of the Atomium provide various attractions and the top sphere affords stunning views of Belgium&#8217;s capital. Field Grey were particularly excited about the permanent exhibition <em>Atomium: From Symbol to Icon<\/em> detailing the various elements of Expo 58 and in particular the glamorous &#8216;Fair Hostesses&#8217; that welcomed the 41 million visitors that flocked to the building during the fair.
