It is, in our opinion, one of the Fashion and Textile Museum<\/a>‘s best exhibitions, and this weekend Liberty in Fashion<\/em> comes to a close. It celebrates the world famous department store’s 140th birthday \u2013 yes, that’s 140 years at the cutting edge of fashion, decorative arts and print design.<\/p>\n

The exhibition explores Liberty’s<\/a> impact, from Orientalism in the 19th century right through to the impact these unique prints have on fashion now. It summarises the defining Art Nouveau and Art Deco periods with stunning examples of dresses and fabric samples, featuring the unmistakable floral and paisley designs.<\/p>\n

There are also fascinating examples of lesser-known Liberty prints, including some pretty radical geometric designs from the 1970s onwards. It’s an exhibition not to be missed, and you have until Saturday to go. Go!<\/p>\n
