World-renowned chef Tom Aikens required a unique uniform solution for his business’ fast growing portfolio of Tom’s Kitchen restaurants. The uniform needed to be flexible and create a sense of immediate brand recognition.Approach / Field Grey created bespoke dyed aprons in ever-popular duck cotton with a Teflon stain guard. And, as with any bespoke product, no detail was spared.

The aprons’ herringbone ties were dyed in the brand’s signature colour, which features on the restaurants’ menus. Bright red bar tacks on the pockets are reminiscent of denim and the aprons are finished with a subtle Tom’s Kitchen label.

The workwear-style aprons are an important part of the Tom’s Kitchen story – complementing the relaxed and informal environment of the restaurants and being immediately identifiable in a variety of venues, including an outpost in Istanbul. Field Grey produced both bib and half aprons – the bib aprons are available to purchase in the Tom Aiken’s Deli.

Tom’s Kitchen / Tom’s kitchen is a collection of modern British brasseries serving comfort food favourites. The ethos of the business is simple: use the very best seasonal and locally sourced ingredients wherever possible.
