Field Grey is an established business specialising in the design of bespoke uniform solutions for well-known high-end clients.  We’re looking for a Production Assistant to support our Creative Director and Production Manager in the design, development and delivery of our products & services.

Salary £20-22,000 depending on experience. This role may include some overseas travel, dependent on local and international restrictions surrounding Covid.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assisting the designers and technical team with development of all new product styles, including sourcing, construction, sizing & factory liaison
  • Executing the development process in a timely manner for all products and issuing factories with accurate and clear information as well as target prices
  • Demonstrating excellent knowledge of fabrics, trims, print design and accessories as per customer specifications with the ability to negotiate and liaise with suppliers
  • Sourcing Fabrics & Trims
  • Communicating with factories to ensure minimum lead times are met and quality standards adhered to
  • Monitoring samples and flagging up any delays or queries
  • Demonstrate a good grasp of specs, (Particularly BOM/Sizing & QC) garment construction and knowledge of factory process
  • Liaise with our logistics providers to find the most competitive rates
  • Ensuring the product is in line with the companies target margin and expected retail price without compromising our quality standards
  • Giving clear instructions to the factories and ensuring samples are made to specifications
  • Managing out the critical path with the Production Manager & Creative Director from initial concept through to bulk samples
  • Contributing to design presentations and inspiration boards, and organising proposals and pitches

Ideal Candidate

  • Demonstrable and proven experience in design and garment production
  • Degree in relevant subject preferred
  • Strong interpersonal and influencing skills
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritise projects and work at pace within a fast-paced environment
  • Good multi-product knowledge
  • Passionate about garments and their details
  • Fantastic interpersonal skills, able to build strong relationships quickly
  • Advanced level user of relevant adobe software including In-design, Photoshop, Illustrator, Affinity, Excel, Word and PowerPoint
  • Strong interest in the value of design, particularly applied to everyday practical problems
  • Excellent verbal and written English
  • Language skills would be an advantage
